Why is the SWI frame design so unique?

SWI is the only brand producing a ‘true’ monocoque frame (1 uninterrupted carbon shell with no joins). This has 2 unique advantages compared to mass carbon frame production or artisan carbon frame builders who build ‘tube to tube’.

Unidirectional carbon fibre, (UD) is a continuous piece of carbon with the filaments flowing in a single direction. When this technology is combined with a frame that is an uninterrupted monocoque shell you are able to produce a frame that is connected from the rear dropouts to the head tube without any interruptions. This dramatically improves the ride feel and transfer of power into forward motion.

What Sets SWI Cycling Apart: The Role of NTPT Carbon Textile in Our Frame Manufacturing Process

At the core of SWI Cycling's innovation is our exclusive selection of NTPT carbon textile for frame construction, which produces a significantly higher stiffness to weight ration, than typically senn in frame manufacturing. The NTPT textile is then impregnated with a special resin that allows for very high pressure moulding at 6 bars of pressure in an autoclave airtight oven, where the frame ‘cooks’ for 6 hours at 125 degrees Celsius. The use of an autoclave enables the best carbon polymerization, compressing the carbon fibres beyond standard frames, adding strength without weight or volume. For this reason, it is a technique used for the production of the carbon chassis for Formula 1 cars and GP motorcycles.

NTPT material, short for North Thin Ply Technology, represents a groundbreaking advancement in carbon fibre technology. Characterized by its ultra-dense, unidirectional carbon weave that reaches up to 29 ply, NTPT vastly surpasses the typical 4 to 5 ply found in standard carbon fibre fabrics. This innovative construction grants NTPT-equipped frames a superior stiffness-to-weight ratio, a critical factor in the performance of high-end road bikes.

How do you customise the SWI bicycle frame for the rider?

At SWI we provide a unique method of customization enabled by our exclusive use of the combination of NTPT material and a Monocoque mould. Each frame is based on the sizes 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, and 60. The monocoque design ensures extraordinary precision in frame geometry, surpassing conventional carbon frames, which means that by adjusting the stem length, seat post offset and handlebar width we can provide the ideal geometry for over 90% of riders. What happens if I crash whilst riding my SWI?

Unfortunately crashes and accidents happen, however, we are here to help you get back on the road as quickly as possible. Should you damage your SWI frame, forks, seatpost or integrated bars and stem in a crash or other unfortunate mishap, SWI will attempt to repair the damage at a fair cost. Unfortunately, there will sometimes be occasions when we will not be able to repair the damage. In these situations, SWI will offer a 35% reduction on the cost of a replacement.
