The 50-year frame warranty

We build the frameset ourselves in Villafranca Padovana, and that is where our guarantee sits. It runs for fifty years from the date of purchase and covers the parts we manufacture: the frame, fork, seatpost and cockpit, against manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship. That includes the cost of transporting the frame to us and rebuilding it once the work is done.

In the unlikely event that a defect or breakage occurs because of a manufacturing error, the damaged part is repaired, or replaced with an equal and new one, at our expense.

Within 90 days

Registering your frame

The fifty-year guarantee applies to frames registered with us within 90 days of purchase. Registration is free, takes about two minutes, and your dealer can complete it at handover. You can also do it yourself.

Registering ties your frame's serial number to its build record: the layup, the finish, the date it was made and who it was made for. It is how we know which frame is yours and that you are the person who bought it. Without it we cannot establish either, and the fifty-year guarantee does not apply.

Your rights under consumer law are not affected by this and never depend on registration. See Your rights as a consumer below.

Who the guarantee covers

It covers the person who bought the frameset new from SWI or an authorised SWI dealer, and it is not transferable. If the frame is sold or passed on, the fifty-year guarantee ends.

We would still like to know where our frames are. If you have bought an SWI second hand you can tell us at swi-cycling.com/register. It is how we reach you if anything about your frame ever needs attention, and it means a frame that turns up stolen can be traced. It does not restore the guarantee, and the 25% crash-replacement rate is open to you either way.

The rest of the bicycle

Everything on a complete SWI that we do not make, including the groupset, wheels, saddle and tyres, carries its own manufacturer's warranty, usually two years, when used correctly under normal conditions. We will help you make the claim, but the cover is theirs.

This does not cover bearings, or defects in the painting or anodising of components.

Crash support

If the worst happens

Crashes happen. Should you damage a SWI frame, fork, seatpost or integrated bar and stem in a crash or other mishap, we will attempt to repair the damage at a fair cost.

There will occasionally be damage we cannot repair. In those cases we supply a replacement frameset at 25% off. That is open to any owner of an SWI, registered or not, first owner or subsequent.

Consumer law

Your rights as a consumer

This guarantee is something we give you voluntarily, in addition to the rights you already have. Separately from anything on this page, you have rights against the retailer who sold you the bicycle if it is not as described or not of satisfactory quality. In the European Union that is a minimum of two years from delivery. Several countries give longer, and countries outside the EU have their own rules.

Those rights are unaffected by this guarantee, are not limited by it, and do not depend on registration.
